Candle Burning Tips
|
- Handle with care, glass container may become hot.
- Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire.
- Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Never allow flame to come in direct contact with the side of the container.
- Always trim the wick to 1/4 inch before lighting. If the wick should smoke or build up carbon (mushroom), extinguish the flame, let cool, trim the wick, remove trimmings, and relight.
- Keep the wick(s) centered.
- Keep wax pool free of wick trimmings or other foreign matter that might present a fire hazard.
- A container candle should be burned one hour for each inch of its diameter. This allows the wax to pool and cover the entire surface of the container which extends the life of the candle.
- A container candle should be placed on a pad, coaster, or other heat-resistant dry surface to protect furniture from excessive heat.
- To prevent uneven burning of the candle, keep out of drafts and away from excessive vibrations.
- Discontinue use when 1/2 inch of wax remains in the bottom of the container. This will prevent possible heat damage to counter or surface, and possible breakage of glass due to excess heat.
- Extinguish flame by gently blowing out or use a snuffer. This will prevent wax from splattering. Never use water. Do not replace lid until cool.

In addition to the above directions:
- Remove the label on the bottom of the candle before burning.
- Always burn in an appropriate holder. Do not burn "free-standing".
- Votive candles are designed to liquefy while burning and must be burned in an appropriate sized container. The container should be of similar size to the votive for proper burning. The better the fit, the longer the burn time.
